Single Review: Priscilla Block, “Just About Over You”

“Just About Over You”

Priscilla Block

Written by Priscilla Block, Sarah Jones, and Emily Kroll

“Just About Over You” is a solid release from a promising new artist.

It’s an exceptionally well written lyric, capturing the dynamic of moving on from a relationship successfully while everything is under your control, but relapsing once you see that person again.

Block has a beautiful tone to her voice, and her phrasing is particularly strong on the verses.   The chorus has a catchy rhythm to it, too.

All of the record’s virtues would’ve been better served by a more organic production, giving Block a chance to be heard more clearly and to take more chances with the melody.   We get a glimmer of this toward the end, where the background noise drops out and she sings the first half of the chorus again with little accompaniment.

Still, the quality of the act shines through.  I look forward to hearing more from her.

  1. Good song. A friend of mine who follows the Kix Brooks survey every week and listens to country radio told me about it. I heard it and bought it. For the week of 5/10 it’s #34. I don’t listen to country radio at all. Come to think of it, I don’t listen to any radio.
