We’ve recently discussed songs about leaving home, so it only seems right to celebrate that we can always go home again, even if it’s only in our minds or hearts sometimes.
What are some of your favorite songs about physically going home or remembering home?
- Cam, “Down This Road”
- Wynonna, “Flies on the Butter (You Can’t Go Home Again)”

The only one that jumps to mind that hasn’t been mentioned yet- “I Just Came Home to Count the Memories” by John Anderson. A particularly sad spin on this theme.

How interesting that four differing songs each titled “Home” have so far been mentioned . . . . Rounding out the list to five, I’d like to add “Home” by Jim Reeves.
I know that Dierks Bentley also had a hit with a song titled “Home.” However, because it was more of a patriotic song and (to my mind) not really associated with the theme of coming/remembering home, I’ve chosen not to include it.
I forgot to include in my earlier post Merle Haggard’s “Sing Me Back Home.”
I love David Nail’s “Turning Home”. Also “The House that Built Me” as mentioned in previous posts.
1. Wynonna Judd- I just drove by
2. Ricky Skaggs – The fields of home
3. Garth Brooks- Alabama Clay
4. Tom T Hall – Homecoming
5. Alan Jackson – Home
18 wheels and a Dozen Roses
Almost Home–Craig morgan
“country Roads”–John Denver
‘The House that Built me” Miranda Lambert
“Back Home Again” John Denver
I love Pam Tillis’ Homeward Looking Angel!
Agree with most that have been listed. These are just a few others on my playlist that I enjoy.
Lonestar – “Everything’s Changed”
Travis Tritt – “Where Corn Don’t Grow” (maybe a stretch…)
Patty Loveless – “On Your Way Home” (interesting view of coming home…)
Sawyer Brown – “Six Days on the Road”
Billy Currington “Good Directions”
And leaving home – Reba McEntire – She’s turning 50 today.
Reba’s actually turning 60 today, not 50
Trisha Yearwood’s “Dreaming Fields” came into my mind when I read this post. What a haunting song.
