Daily Top Five (by Five): Fan Favorites

We haven’t done a Daily Top Five for a few days, so the original post is going to be lengthier than usual.

Loyal fans of an artist usually love album cuts and rarities as much as they do the singles, if not more.   Today we ask, what are your five favorite lesser-known tracks Trisha Yearwood Everybody Knowsby your five favorite artists?

You don’t have to to pick five artists in the comments, of course.  But for the artists you pick, try to avoid singles!

I’m cheating and using my iPod play counts to help me out here.

Here are my five favorite fan favorites from five of my favorite artists:

  1. I’ll start with Merle Haggard and perhaps get to others later

I’m disqualifying “Silver Wings” and “Today I Started Loving You Again”, both magnificent songs, both B sides of a hit single

    1) To Many Bridges To Cross Over
    2) Since I Made The Prison Band
    3) In The Good Old Days (When Times Were Bad)
    4) Footlights
    5) Heart To Heart Talk (with Leona Williams)

The first three were from early Capitol albums which mostly has twelve single-worthy tracks per album. “Footlights” is from the MCA album SERVING 190 PROOF and “Heart To Heart Talk” was on the Mercury album HEART TO HEART

There are many, many more equally commendable tracks

  2. Carrie Underwood
    Do You Think About Me
    Play On
    Whine After Whiskey
    Some Hearts
    Cupid’s Got A Shotgun

Carrie is like the queen of country bar-none

    1. Night Rider’s Lament
    2. Do Nothing Til You Hear From Me
    3. When She Smiled at Him
    4. It’s Not Gonna Happen Today
