Win Rosanne Cash’s The List on CD and Vinyl

The ListUpdate: Congratulations to our randomly selected (Random.org) winner, Sean. His favorite Rosanne Cash songs are “Seven Year Ache” and “September When It Comes.” Sean, you will be emailed soon for your contact information. Thank you to all who entered this contest.

While we are now clearly in the age of digital downloads and compact discs, not much compares to the warm sound that emanates from vinyl records. For those who still like to collect records, it’s certainly harder to add current albums to the collection, since vinyl even precedes the all but extinct cassette tape. Still, there is a nostalgia that records provide which cassettes just do not fill. So, it’s always fun when artists release an album, now and then, on vinyl in addition to CD and digital forms.

As Rosanne Cash visits some of the songs from a list of 100 essential songs that her father gathered for her, she is celebrating the project by making some copies of her album, The List, available on vinyl.

Country Universe readers have a chance to win a package that will contain two copies of her upcoming release, which will be released tomorrow (October 6), one on CD and the other on vinyl.

All you have to do is leave a comment telling us your favorite Rosanne Cash song and/or the song that you are most looking forward to hearing from this project.

You have until Monday October 12, 9:00 EST., to enter this contest, at which time 1 lucky winner will be randomly selected to win this cool prize.

  1. I love “I Don’t Know Why You Don’t Want Me”

Really looking forward to this CD – anything Roseanne does is great…love her (and her daddy too!)

  2. I really like “Seven Year Ache” and her cover of “I Don’t Wanna Spoil the Party”. “I Still Miss Someone” was chilling the first time I heard it. Can’t wait to hear the new CD.

  3. Favourite Track – ‘I Was Watching You’ from the Black Cadillac Album, an unforgettable perfomance a few years ago in London.
Regards new CD THE LIST – Looking forward to hearing her duet with with Bruce Springsteen on ‘Sea Of Heartbreak’ WOW!
Interesting its getting a vinyl release. CD’s through 90’s have been made to sound louder than everyone else’s using excessive compression which has resulted in the loss of dynamic range and fatiguing from a listeners aspect . Miss the warm sound of vinyl. Inspiring choice for Rosanne to offer this format! Radio presenters are already saying this project is a contender for Album Of 2009

  4. “Seven Year Ache” is probably my favorite–it’s just so wonderfully written and sung, but I also love her duet with Rodney Crowell “It’s Such a Small World.”

I listened to The List online, but I’m thinking that this is an album made to be heard on vinyl.

  5. “Runaway Train” is my personal favorite, and I’m pumped to hear “Silver Wings”, too. Not that I can win, but you know.

  6. I really like her song “Seven Year Ache” and I’m really looking forward to hearing her duet with Bruce Springsteen on “Sea of Heartbreak”. Woo!

  7. Speaking of vinyl, it would be cool to have The List on vinyl to go with the other Rosanne Cash LP’s I have. Though after just winning Patty Loveless from here a few days ago….

So many songs to choose from, as mentioned “Seven Year Ache” and all the songs on that LP, my personal favorite is “Somewhere in the Stars” from the LP of that name which also includes her great cover of “Third Rate Romance”

Her MTV hits “I Don’t Know Why You Don’t Want Me” and “Never Be You” from “Rhythm and Romance” LP.

This looks to be a stellar collection of covers, I’m looking forward to its release. Can’t pick a single song, they all will be great I’m sure.

  8. Without a doubt, “Seven Year Ache,” but I also love “September When It Comes.” I am so stoked for the whole album!! :)

  9. Seven Year Ache..most looking forward to hearing Roseanne’s take on 500 miles. This should be a fantastic album, great singer with a great country voice interpreting timeless material selected by her legendary Dad.. just wow!..

Do these newfangled vinyl records have one side or two like in the olden days? Also, are they more durable? I remember the old ones could get worn out very easily, and were prone to scratching..’course I’m thinking of my old 45 of CCR’s Travelin’ Band, (the first record I ever bought, and for months my only record) which was subect to MANY repeat spins with my worn out diamond needle.

  10. Love so many songs by Rosanne. Especially like “Pink Bedroom” because she was one of the first to cover John Hiatt. It just fit her sensability. Look forward to hearing “Silver Wings.” What a great song. When did Tricia Yearwood and Rosanne do a duet?

  11. hearing her singing “blue moon with heartache” live last february was very special. i’m curious to hear her take on “silver wings”, too.

  12. I’d have to say Long Black Veil. This is a great old song. It’s been recorded by a lot of different artists and each one is so different.

  13. When did Tricia Yearwood and Rosanne do a duet?

Yearwood covered “Seven Year Ache” on Inside Out; Cash did some background vocals on that version.

  14. I was first introduced to Rosanne by her version of “Tennessee Flat Top Box.” I’ve always preferred that version of the song to any other.

Looking forward to hearing the Jeff Tweedy duet. Not sure how you do “Long Black Veil” as a duet, but if anyone can pull it off…

  15. This is so exciting!!!! And I’m not trying to be rude or impatient lol but I was wondering when that guy would be e-mailing me. I just wasn’t sure how long to wait, thats all. And thanks again!! :)
